Useful Links: October 2009
Written by: Mark Wilson
A list of items I’ve come across recently that I found potentially useful, interesting, or just plain funny:
- VHD Attach – Adds context-sensitive links to Windows Explorer in order to attach/detach .VHD files
- VMUtil downloads – Some interesting-looking tools for VHD file copy operations and virtual machine provisioning.
- Windows 7 ISO utilities – Change a Windows 7 ISO to present a different SKU – or even present a universal disc and select yourself.
- Top 5 ways not to be a Linux evangelist – We've all seen the forum posts and blog comments from fanboys that write stuff about M$ and Windoze… this gives some good advice on how to evangelise Linux in a grown up manner.
- Free tools for Hyper-V Management – Several CodePlex projects with a focus on managing Hyper-V.
- Outlook 2010 and Google Calendar Sync hack – Hexediting Outlook 2010 to make Google Calendar Sync think it’s an old version (only works with 32-bit Outlook though).
- How to mount a remote volume at startup on Mac OS X – I use this to mount the volume on my NAS that holds my iTunes media.
- YouTube – Telecommunications services for the 1990s – A spookily accurate GPO video from 1969 looking at future communications.
