Since then, I&#8217;ve had some fun tweaking server core installations (including some cheekiness installing third party <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2007\/07\/apache-http-server-on-windows-server-2008-server-core.htm\">web servers<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/03\/surfing-with-server-core.htm\">browsers<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dirteam.com\/blogs\/sanderberkouwer\/\">Sander Berkouwer<\/a> wrote a series of blog posts last summer that look at changing the look and feel of a server core installation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dirteam.com\/blogs\/sanderberkouwer\/archive\/2007\/08\/13\/changing-server-core-s-look-and-feel-part-1.aspx\">Changing regional and language options (international settings) as well as time and date options<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dirteam.com\/blogs\/sanderberkouwer\/archive\/2007\/08\/14\/changing-server-core-s-look-and-feel-part-2.aspx\">Changing display settings such as screen resolution and color depth, screen saver, window and background colors, cleartype and windows dragging settings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dirteam.com\/blogs\/sanderberkouwer\/archive\/2007\/08\/15\/changing-server-core-s-look-and-feel-part-3.aspx\">Changing keyboard and mouse settings\/cursors<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dirteam.com\/blogs\/sanderberkouwer\/archive\/2007\/08\/16\/changing-server-core-s-look-and-feel-part-4.aspx\">Changing the splash screen, logon screen and tweaking the command prompt window<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Server core may be intended for core infrastructure servers in lights-out data centres but even so, some customisation can be useful.
