This morning, I discovered a new command in Windows XP (and Windows Server 2003) – systeminfo.exe<\/code> allows an administrator to query a local or remote computer for basic system configuration information<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the TweakXP.com website suggests a useful method of restricting the output from systeminfo.exe so that only certain information is displayed, by piping it through find.exe<\/a>. Deepak Sharma posted similar information on his weblog<\/a>, but also points towards Microsoft’s uptime reliability and availability information tool (uptime.exe<\/code>)<\/a>, a Windows NT download (that also works on XP).<\/p>\n

After some more research, I found that systeminfo.exe<\/code> is just one of a few new commands in recent versions of Windows and full details may be found in the %windir%\\help\\ntcmds.chm file.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
