For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help\u00a0topic.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>+ CategoryInfo : OpenError: (System.Manageme&#8230;.RemoteRunspace:RemoteRunspace) [], PSRemotingTransportExc<\/em><br \/>\n<em> eption<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : PSSessionOpenFailed<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Strangely though, it could resolve the server name as <code>nslookup ps.outlook.com<\/code> told me:<\/p>\n<p><em>Non-authoritative answer:<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Name: pod51000psh.outlook.com<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Address: 132.245.1.167<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Aliases: ps.outlook.com<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/2570535\">Microsoft knowledge base article 2570535<\/a> includes steps for troubleshooting Windows PowerShell issues that affect Exchange Online for Office 365 and suggested<\/p>\n<p><em>This issue occurs if an internal firewall isn&#8217;t started or if the Windows Remote Management service isn&#8217;t started<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/help.outlook.com\/en-GB\/140\/cc952756.aspx\">I confirmed that WinRM was running and allowing basic authentication<\/a>\u00a0but still couldn&#8217;t connect. \u00a0So I focused on the &#8220;internal firewall isn&#8217;t started&#8221; part.<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough, the issue was Symentec Endpoint Prevention on my corporate laptop. \u00a0I used my wife&#8217;s PC instead, and connected with no issues at all&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/images\/powershell-office365.png?resize=598%2C385&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"598\" height=\"385\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve written previously about managing my Office 365 tenant using Windows PowerShell\u00a0(Microsoft has since provided its own documentation on the topic) but I tried today and found that I couldn&#8217;t get a connection.
