{"id":574,"date":"2005-11-23T14:28:00","date_gmt":"2005-11-23T14:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/markwilson.me.uk\/blog\/2005\/11\/is-someone-trying-to-hijack-my-domain.htm"},"modified":"2007-05-31T23:02:42","modified_gmt":"2007-05-31T22:02:42","slug":"is-someone-trying-to-hijack-my-domain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2005\/11\/is-someone-trying-to-hijack-my-domain.htm","title":{"rendered":"Is someone trying to hijack my domain?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--113275626586404467-->As you are reading this blog, you can see that <a href=\"http:\/\/cgi.nic.uk\/cgi-bin\/whois.cgi?query=markwilson.co.uk\">I own the markwilson.co.uk domain<\/a>.  <a href=\"http:\/\/cgi.nic.uk\/cgi-bin\/whois.cgi?query=markwilson.me.uk\">I also own markwilson.me.uk<\/a> (even though the address details are out of date) but evidently someone out there thinks that they do and it&#8217;s getting kind of frustrating because I&#8217;m getting e-mails from people trying to get in touch with someone who is obviously giving out their address using my domain name!<\/p>\n<p>So far I&#8217;ve had a quote for web design services (or is that a hint?!) and information about some conference (initially a declined credit card and then details for joining the event).<\/p>\n<p>Because I try to be a good &#8216;net citizen, I advise people that they are using the wrong e-mail address (and most will update their records, or pick up the phone and call the guy &#8211; I can&#8217;t because I don&#8217;t have his details) but this is getting annoying now&#8230; could this be a bizarre method of generating spam in my mailbox?<\/p>\n<p>If you think your e-mail address ends with @markwilson.me.uk, then I&#8217;m sorry but it doesn&#8217;t!
