Last night I found out that Mac OS X 10.4.7 doesn&#8217;t include wget and I was a bit stuffed&#8230; luckily I found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statusq.org\/archives\/2005\/02\/22\/610\/\">Quentin Stafford-Fraser&#8217;s OS X port of GNU wget<\/a>.  I needed to refer to the blog post comments to get things working but the basic process was to issue the following commands from a terminal:<\/p>\n<p><code>sudo mkdir \/usr\/local<br \/>\nsudo mkdir \/usr\/local\/bin<br \/>\nsudo mkdir \/usr\/local\/man<br \/>\nsudo mkdir \/usr\/local\/man\/man1<br \/>\nsudo mkdir \/usr\/local\/etc<br \/>\nsudo cp wget \/usr\/local\/bin<br \/>\nsudo cp wget.1 \/usr\/local\/man\/man1<br \/>\nsudo cp wgetrc \/usr\/local\/etc<\/code><\/p>\n<p>Then, create a file called .bash_profile containing the following:<\/p>\n<p><code>export PATH=$PATH:\/usr\/local\/bin<br \/>\nexport MANPATH=$MANPATH:\/usr\/local\/man<\/code><\/p>\n<p>After logging off and on again, issuing the <code>wget <em>url<\/em><\/code> or <code>man wget<\/code> commands from the terminal should produce the desired results.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One Linux utility that I find very useful is wget.
