Check that site collection storage management is set to manual!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2015\/09\/control-onedrive-for-business-syncing-to-prevent-data-copies-on-non-domain-joined-pcs.htm\">controlling OneDrive for Business syncing to prevent data copies on non-domain-joined PCs<\/a>. Since then, I&#8217;ve had to add a post script to highlight a known issue with domain joined PCs failing to sync OneDrive for Business, even when added to a safe list,\u00a0which is fixed by the 12 May 2015 update for OneDrive for Business (see <a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/kb\/2986244\">Microsoft knowledge base article 2986244<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>I also wrote in that post about problems setting storage quotas in OneDrive for Business using <code>Set-SPOSite -Identity https:\/\/tenantname-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/firstname_lastname_tenantname_onmicrosoft_com -StorageQuota 2048<\/code><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Set-SPOSite : Cannot get site https:\/\/tenantname-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/firstname_lastname_tenantname_onmicrosoft_com.<br \/>\nAt line:1 char:1<br \/>\n+ Set-SPOSite -Identity<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/tenantname-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/firstname_lastname &#8230;<br \/>\n+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br \/>\n+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Set-SPOSite], ServerException<br \/>\n+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.ServerException,Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.PowerShell.SetSite<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>After raising a service request with Microsoft (which took over a week to be escalated after a few days of the initial team failing to resolve it) and then engaging the Microsoft Onboarding Center instead, I finally got to the bottom of the issue. The problem was that Site Collection Storage Management in SharePoint Online was set to Automatic. Once\u00a0this was\u00a0changed to Manual, I could successfully apply the quotas to users&#8217; OneDrive for Business sites.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/images\/o365-site-collection-storage-management.png?resize=627%2C98&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Office 365 (SharePoint Online) Site Collection Storage Management settings\" width=\"627\" height=\"98\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As well as using PowerShell (<code>Get-SPOSite -Identity https:\/\/tenantname-my.sharepoint.com\/personal\/firstname_lastname_tenantname_onmicrosoft_com<\/code>), you can check the current storage quota in the browser, under Site settings, Storage Metrics:<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/images\/o365-site-settings-storage-metrics-site-collection.png?resize=569%2C65&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"One Drive for Business storage quota reduced to 2GB\" width=\"569\" height=\"65\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately this setting has to be applied on a per-user basis, after the user has already logged on to OneDrive for Business (which provisions the storage).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post about controlling OneDrive for Business syncing to prevent data copies on non-domain-joined PCs.
