One thing that’s really annoying for UK-based Mac users is the lack of a # symbol on the Apple keyboard. In the US this is known as a “pound” but in UK English (or “English”, as I prefer to call it!), a pound symbol is \u00c2\u00a3 for pounds sterling (our unit of currency) or lb for the imperial unit of weight and we call # “hash”.<\/p>\n

Anyway, it turns out that UK keyboard users can type alt+3 to generate a # character<\/a>.<\/p>\n
