{"id":6410,"date":"2016-11-28T12:00:53","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T12:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/?p=6410"},"modified":"2016-11-26T22:22:28","modified_gmt":"2016-11-26T22:22:28","slug":"some-uk-keyboard-advice-for-running-windows-on-a-mac","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/11\/some-uk-keyboard-advice-for-running-windows-on-a-mac.htm","title":{"rendered":"Some UK keyboard advice for running Windows on a Mac"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2016\/11\/new-lease-life-old-macs.htm\">the rebirth of my old Mac Mini as a Windows 10 desktop PC<\/a>, I had a couple of little niggles to sort out with a UK Apple keyboard:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No &#8220;Num lock&#8221; key &#8211; yes there is: <a href=\"http:\/\/osxdaily.com\/2014\/12\/01\/number-keys-not-working-mac-keyboard-fix\/\">use the clear key above the number 7<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/images\/apple-uk-numlock.jpg?resize=303%2C303&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Clear key - acts as Num Lock when running Windows\" width=\"303\" height=\"303\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Where is the hash key? (essential for tweeting!) &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/aurora7795.blogspot.co.uk\/2009\/10\/hash-key-on-apple-uk-mac-keyboard-when.html\"><code>Ctrl<\/code>+<code>Alt<\/code>+<code>3<\/code> creates a lovely #<\/a> (no, it&#8217;s not a &#8220;pound&#8221; &#8211; a pound is \u00a3, unless we&#8217;re talking about weight, when it&#8217;s lb).<\/li>\n<li>And, talking of currency, a Euro symbol (\u20ac) is <code>Right Alt<\/code>+<code>4<\/code> (just as in Windows), not on the 2 key (as printed on my keyboard).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Another useful link is the <a href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-gb\/HT202676\">Use your Apple Keyboard in Windows with Boot Camp<\/a> Apple support article.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the rebirth of my old Mac Mini as a Windows 10 desktop PC, I had a couple of little niggles to sort out with a UK Apple keyboard: No &#8220;Num lock&#8221; key &#8211; yes there is: use the clear key above the number 7.
