I’ve been trying to get my PDA (an HP iPAQ 2210) to connect to the Internet via a Bluetooth connection to my business mobile phone (a Nokia 6310i). I was having problems with this until I found the details on the Vodafone<\/a> website (Get More from Your Mobile | Internet on the Move | Set up your PDA); however the Vodafone details don’t include PDAs running Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003 or Bluetooth connectivity and so I’ve posted my own instructions here:<\/p>\n

(these notes assume that that you are familiar with using the PocketPC and that you have already successfully paired the PDA with the mobile handset).<\/p>\n

From the Start<\/strong> menu, select, Settings<\/strong>:
\nMove to the \"Connections\"<\/strong> page and click the \"Connections\"<\/strong> icon, then select \"Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Give the connection a name (e.g. Vodafone GPRS<\/code>) and select a Bluetooth Dialup Modem<\/strong>, before clicking Next<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Enter the number as *99#<\/code> and click Next<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Enter the username<\/strong> and password <\/strong>(both web<\/code>). Leave the domain<\/strong> name empty <\/em>and click Advanced…<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On the General <\/strong>page, set the Baud rate<\/strong> to 57600<\/code> and enter a modem command string<\/strong> of +cgdcont=1,\"ip\",\"Internet\"<\/code>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

On the Port Settings<\/strong> page, set 8 data bits<\/strong>, no parity<\/strong>, 2 stop bits<\/strong> and hardware flow control<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

All other advanced settings should be default (most notably the connection should use server-assigned [IP] addresses<\/strong>):<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Click \"OK\"<\/strong>, and then \"Finish\"<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Turn Bluetooth<\/strong> on<\/em>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Launch the Vodafone GPRS<\/strong> connection (e.g. by clicking the connectivity icon at the top of the screen and then clicking *99#<\/strong>):<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The PDA will initiate the connection with the mobile handset (it may be necessary to confirm the connection on the handset):<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Once connected, Internet services can be accessed as normal:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

To disconnect, click the connectivity icon at the top of the screen and click Disconnect<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Finally, turn Bluetooth<\/strong> off<\/em> to conserve power:<\/p>\n
