{"id":8299,"date":"2021-06-03T19:13:59","date_gmt":"2021-06-03T18:13:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/?p=8299"},"modified":"2021-06-03T19:14:06","modified_gmt":"2021-06-03T18:14:06","slug":"weeknote-21-2021-running-late","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.markwilson.co.uk\/blog\/2021\/06\/weeknote-21-2021-running-late.htm","title":{"rendered":"Weeknote 21\/2021: Running late"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Last week&#8217;s weeknote is a few days late&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was the week when I confirmed that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>I&#8217;m still not a fan of panel discussions (I did take part in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/markwilsonit\/status\/1397827008911089664\">this event<\/a>, but it still didn&#8217;t do it for me).<\/li><li>&#8230;or online events. <a href=\"https:\/\/mmitii.mattballantine.com\/2021\/05\/22\/why-i-struggle-with-online-events\/\">Matt Ballantine&#8217;s post on &#8220;why I struggle with online events&#8221;<\/a> sums up many of the things that I hadn&#8217;t quite managed to put my finger on. Basically, just because you can get 1000s of people to attend for virtually no cost, doesn&#8217;t mean it&#8217;s good value (not for the attendees anyway!).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the subject of online events, I missed the Microsoft Build keynote completely (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/markwilsonit\/status\/1397210407304146949\">because of the poor communications<\/a>), but I found this nice summary of what Google is up to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center;
